Eni: New oil discovery offshore Angola

March 18, 2013 Featured, News No Comments

ENIThis discovery confirms Angola as one of the core countries in Eni’s organic growth strategy. Eni has been present in the country since 1980 with a net production of 102,000 barrels per day in 2011.

San Donato Milanese (Milan), 15 March 2013  – Eni has made the ninth oil discovery in Block 15/06, in deep water offshore Angola,  increasing the resource base   of the West Hub project. The discovery was made through the Vandumbu 1 well, located approximately 150 kilometers from the coast. The well was drilled at a water depth of 976 meters and reached a total depth of 4,107 meters.

Additional drilling has been carried out from the Vandumbu 1 well in different direction (side track), Vandumbu 1 ST, that reached a depth of 3,480 meters, finding a net oil (34° API)  pay  of  114 meters, contained in Lower Miocene high quality sand. As suggested by data acquired, Eni estimates that Vandumbu 1 ST has a production capacity in excess of 5,000 barrel of oil per day. … Continue Reading

Eni: new oil discovery in western desert of Egypt

February 7, 2013 Featured, News No Comments

ENIThe drilling of Rosa North 1X is part of Eni’s strategy to refocus exploration activities in Egypt by targeting deeper oil plays in the Western Desert.

Eni has made a new oil discovery from the NFW well “Rosa North 1X‘, located in the Meleiha Concession, in the Western Desert of Egypt. The drilling of Rosa North 1X is part of Eni’s strategy to refocus exploration activities in Egypt by targeting deeper oil plays in the Western Desert.

The well encountered a total oil pay of around 80 meters in multiple good-quality sandstones of the Bahariya, Alam El Bueib, Khatatba (Upper & Lower Safa Members) and Ras Qattara reservoirs and has been successfully tested in the reservoirs flowing a 43°-48° API oil at very good rates.

The development of the discovery foresees the drilling of at least two development wells in 2013. Production for each well is estimated at 2,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd). The production of Rosa North Field is expected to reach 5000 Bopd in the first 12 months and will be delivered to the nearby processing facilities of Meleiha field. … Continue Reading

State-of-the-art rig in service

January 24, 2013 Featured, News No Comments

Saudi AramcoIn October 2012, a valuable new asset was added to the Saudi Aramco Rigs group. The new rig arrived in the Kingdom after the completion of its construction and signing of the “protocol of delivery” three months ahead of schedule at Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore.

The new rig, considered state-of-the-art in the offshore drilling world, is equipped with 6+1 Engines/generator sets. These six generators can be used to power up the entire rig facilities. Plus, it has an equivalent emergency generator for backup in case of power failures.

Its 54-motor jacking system will allow it to carry a greater load than the normal 36-motor rigs. Also, its water cooling system will enable quicker heat removal compared with the traditional air cooling of other rigs.

The new offshore jack-up rig will be the second to be owned and fully operated by Saudi Aramco. It is also the first offshore jack-up rig that Saudi Aramco built from scratch to fit the Arabian Gulf’s offshore fields. … Continue Reading
