TEEKAY WORKS WITH NOBLE ENERGY FOR AN EXTENDED WELL TEST IN WEST AFRICA

October 25, 2013 News No Comments

TeekayTeekay signed a time-charter contract with Noble Energy Inc. to prepare and mobilize the shuttle tanker Scott Spirit for an Extended Well Test (EWT) at The Diega field in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa. The vessel went on-hire the day after and arrived in Luba Freeport at Bioko Island, Equatorial Guinea, August 16, for clearance.

Scott Spirit is connected to the semi-submersible drilling rig Atwood Hunter by a 600 meter loading hose to test and verify reservoir permeability and flow capabilities of the well.

Scott Spirit is one of the eco-friendly vessels from the Explorer Class. Due to the specific nature of the crude at the Diega field, no other tanker could carry out the same operation without significant upgrades. So far, the vessel has been operating on dynamic positioning (DP) for weeks demonstrating her overall capabilities in such operations. Scott Spirit is demonstrating that both the vessel and her crew have managed to take on the challenge of operating alone, far away from home and in challenging areas. … Continue Reading

ENIEni estimates that the Evans Shoal gas field contains at least 8Tcf of raw gas in place.

San Donato Milanese, 24 October 2013 – Eni announces the successful completion of the Evans Shoal North-1 appraisal well in the Evans Shoal gas field in the Timor Sea, Australia. The field is located offshore in the NT/P48 exploration permit in the north Bonaparte Basin, some 300 km northwest of Darwin.

The Evans Shoal North 1 well, drilled in 111 meters water depth and to a target depth of 3955 meters, is 12 km away from the Evans Shoal-2. Results indicate that these wells share common reservoir characteristics and are in hydraulic communication. During the well production test the gas flow reached the facility constraint of 30 MMscf/day. Eni estimates that the Evans Shoal gas field contains at least 8Tcf of raw gas in place.

Eni remains committed to fast track development of the significant and known resources in this exploration area

The partners in the NT/P48 joint venture are Eni Australia Ltd (32.5%), Shell (32.5% and Operator), Petronas Carigali (Australia) Pty Ltd (25%) and Osaka Gas Australia Pty Ltd (10%). Eni operates the Evans Shoal North well on behalf of the joint venture. … Continue Reading

DNV GL recommends ways to make LNG bunkering safe and efficient

October 25, 2013 News No Comments

GL_GROUP_SMALLLNG-fuelled ships have logged over 130 ship-years of operation in Norwegian waters and LNG’s attractiveness and stability as a fuel have been thoroughly demonstrated. Globally too, operators, suppliers and regulators have gained significant experience in all aspects of LNG-fuelled ship operations in recent years. However, the process for developing the required infrastructure has not been standardised – leaving the industry with many open questions.

Currently, 83 LNG-fuelled ships are in operation or on order worldwide. These range from passenger ferries, Coast Guard ships and cargo vessels to tankers and platform supply vessels. Estimates put the global LNG-fuelled fleet at 3,200 by the year 2025. With the EU poised to invest in helping to equip 139 seaports and inland ports with LNG bunker stations by 2025, the time was ripe for standardising development processes, designs and operations.

“An ISO committee brought together the experience and know-how of more than 30 industry professionals in 2011 and its draft guideline was published in June 2013. The ISO guideline defines the overall philosophies of designs and operations relevant to LNG bunkering and suggests a list of 24 functional requirements. However, it is not intended to be concrete and descriptive about how to achieve the requirements’ objectives,” states Mr Blikom. … Continue Reading
